01 · The Countdown
Sarah's only daughter, Emma, is leaving for college in two months. Their home is full of preparation: lists on the kitchen counter, conversations about dorm supplies, and excited plans for the future.
Sarah is proud of the young woman Emma is becoming. She smiles when Emma talks about her classes and new friends. Yet even during these happy moments, Sarah notices a heaviness in her heart. Each packed box reminds her that their familiar daily life is about to change.
02 · The Quiet House
One evening, Sarah walks past Emma's bedroom. She imagines what the house might feel like when Emma is away: fewer conversations across the dinner table, fewer shared errands, and a different rhythm in the mornings.
Nothing has changed yet, but Sarah already misses the everyday moments she has come to treasure. She wonders how she will fill the spaces once occupied by school schedules, family routines, and time spent together.
03 · The Unspoken Worries
As move-in day approaches, Sarah catches herself wondering whether Emma will make friends, feel homesick, or manage the responsibilities of college life.
She wants to support Emma's independence, but she also wishes she could protect her from every difficulty.
Sarah sometimes keeps these worries to herself because she doesn't want Emma to feel guilty about leaving. Her excitement for her daughter is genuine, and so is her anxiety about what comes next.
04 · A New Chapter
Sarah begins to realize that Emma's departure marks a transition for both of them.
Emma is stepping into college life, while Sarah is learning what motherhood and her own daily routines may look like in this new season.
Sarah does not need to stop feeling sad in order to feel proud. She can miss their old routines, worry about the unknown, and still look forward to the possibilities ahead.
For now, she is simply beginning to understand the many feelings this change brings.
